Settling in at Ethos Technology: Reflections from My First Two Weeks

The first few weeks at any new company can be both exciting and overwhelming, new faces, new systems, and new expectations. But from the moment I joined Ethos Technology, I knew this was going to be different.

There was a calm sense of direction here, where collaboration and trust aren't just buzzwords, they are built into how people work every day.

Settling In

You know that feeling you get before your first day at a new job, that mix of excitement, nerves, and a little bit of “I really hope I don't mess this up”? That is exactly where I was on Monday morning. But what could've been one of the most nerve-wracking days, turned into something completely different, it was warm, welcoming, and surprisingly calm.

When I arrived, I was greeted by Yola from Potentiam's HR team, who immediately made me feel at ease, she gave me a quick tour of the office, pointing out who's who, where everything is, and how things work around here. We sat down in the boardroom for a short onboarding session where I met my new teammate, Shaun, who was also starting that day.

From there things just kept getting better, our workstations were already set up and laptops ready to go. The team was waiting to welcome us with smiles, introductions, and an overall energy in the room that made me realise right away this wasn't just another day - this was the start of something great.

Learning the Ropes

We wasted no time getting started. We jumped into training almost immediately, and when I say there was a lot to learn, that's an understatement. Most of the first week was all about getting to know Ethos - who we are, what we do, and the incredible ecosystem of vendors we partner with.

Each session opened my eyes a little more to just how dynamic and innovative the tech space really is. From cloud infrastructure to cybersecurity, data management, and beyond, it was clear that Ethos isn't just another technology distributor, but a bridge between groundbreaking vendors and forward-thinking clients.

It was a lot to absorb, sure, but every day brought something new, and the support from the team made all the difference. No question felt too small, and every conversation added another piece to the bigger picture of how everything fits together.

Week Two: Hitting Our Stride

By the end of week one, we were already feeling more settled, and just in time for week two to bring another level of momentum. Paul who had just flown in from the UK, joined us on Friday afternoon and spent the following week working with us in person.

Having him in the office made a huge difference. His energy, insight, and hands-on approach brought everything we'd learned in week one into sharper focus. The conversations shifted from what Ethos does to how we can make an impact within it. He walked us through real-world examples, strategies, and client interactions, turning all that initial theory into something tangible.

That week really marked the point where everything began to click. The confidence started to build, the rhythm began to set in, and the excitement for what's ahead only grew stronger.

Before we knew it, it was time to get on the phones, putting everything we'd learned over the past week and a half to the test. What could have easily been an anxious moment was the complete opposite. Paul, along with the rest of the team, made it an exciting milestone rather than a daunting one.

The energy in the office was electric. Every call became an opportunity to apply what we'd learned, and every question or challenge was met with real encouragement and guidance. One call turned into another, and soon enough, the confidence started to build naturally. It wasn't just about making calls, it was about connecting with people, understanding their needs, and seeing how Ethos could truly help.

Week Two: Hitting Our Stride

As I wrap up my first two weeks, I can honestly say it's been an incredibly rewarding start. The support, the culture, and the genuine passion within the team have made settling in not only easy, but exciting. Each day brings something new to learn and a new opportunity to grow, both personally and professionally.

Looking ahead, I am eager to keep developing my skills as an SDR and to continue learning from everyone around me. Ethos has already proven to be more than just a company, it's a team of innovators, collaborators, and problem-solvers who genuinely care about what they do, it's not just a business, it’s a family. And being part of that, even in these first two weeks, has been nothing short of inspiring.

A huge shout-out and thank you to Paul, Bukola, Mikaeel, Andi, Randal, and Brandon, for their roles in making sure the last two weeks have been nothing short of incredible for myself and Shaun.
