Twitter was fined 150 million for selling users data

The social network Twitter was fined $150 million, approximately £119 million, on the charge of illegally selling user data to "help ads".
Twitter is accused of violating a 2011 FTC order that explicitly prohibited the company from misrepresenting its privacy and security practices, and, earlier, in 2020, the platform has already been fined for violating GDPR rules in Europe.

What can we learn from this?

Data from our users and customers is important and should be treated with the same importance. Complying with GDPR laws brings more consumer trust to your business and avoids fines like this.
