Going International with our Sales Manager Paul

Our International Sales Manager Paul recently spent 2 weeks travelling to see our different teams across the globe. With one week in South Africa and another in Dubai, he came back tired, tanned, and full of ideas.

Read on for an update from Paul:

South Africa | June 19th–23rd – A Week of Onboarding, Training & Team Bonding

What a fantastic week in South Africa onboarding our new team of SDRs! After the incredible success of the original crew (as I like to call them), it was brilliant to welcome fresh faces and kick off a new chapter with such energy and enthusiasm.

We dedicated the entire week to structured onboarding and development.

Here’s a quick look at how the week shaped up:

  • Monday kicked off with an introduction to our culture and ethos (no pun intended), followed by training on the core principles of lead generation - focusing on how to approach calls confidently and effectively.
  • Tuesday through Friday we focused on deep-dive training across our key vendor partners: Pure, Portworx, Cohesity, Verge, Superna, and Inuvika. The team soaked up the information and showed real drive and curiosity.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a proper onboarding without some team building, and we did it the way I know best - through food and drink! It was great to see the team gel so quickly, forming strong bonds that will no doubt pay off in the months ahead.

The early signs are already promising, with some fantastic activity and opportunities coming through.

A big shoutout to Potentium for their outstanding support with recruitment. It was great to meet the team in person, have meaningful conversations about future expansion, and share the vision for what's coming next.

South African Team Outing

To wrap up the trip, Bukola and Mikaeel kindly joined me for a morning trek up Table Mountain, where the views over Cape Town were absolutely stunning. They even gave me a lift to the airport (though I suspect that might’ve been to make sure I actually got on the plane... 😄 ).

Looking ahead, I think I’ll aim for a two-week stay next time - one week goes by way too fast, and there’s never enough time with the gang!

All in all, the new SDRs are off to a flying start. I’m genuinely excited to see how they develop and what they’ll achieve in the coming months. Onward and upward!

Dubai | June 26th–29th – Building Momentum in the UAE

Week two had a very different vibe and a lot more heat, with temperatures averaging 42°C!

This was a long-awaited trip to finally meet Oz, our UAE lead, in person. Oz has been with us for six months now and is doing a fantastic job generating opportunities and building our presence in the region. It was great to spend quality time together, align on strategy, and plan for the upcoming quarter. I’m already looking forward to being back again soon to keep up the momentum.

Another key goal of the visit was to connect with our partners at Portworx. We had some incredibly productive discussions and laid the groundwork for future joint campaigns. We’re especially excited about the Round Table event in August - now the focus is on filling the seats and making it a standout session!

The rest of the week was spent onboarding new partners and strengthening relationships. It was a pleasure sitting down with Mohamad and Syed at Oplee, and then Donnel at Huco.

I'm feeling buzzed about the potential here with data mapping, campaign planning, and opportunity generation already underway.

There’s a real energy around what we’re building in the UAE, and it’s exciting to see the Ethos name gaining traction across the region.

Here’s hoping when I’m back in September, the temperature is a little more forgiving!
